Gary: I appreciated the opportunity to meet you at the Association of Christian Truckers Jamboree Event in Brownstown, IL.  It was informative to hear about your ministries with Lonesome Road Radio and Channel 21.  I am working with the Human Resources team with Samaritan’s Purse (an international Christian relief organization) for Operation Christmas Child (one of the ministries of Samaritan’s Purse).  We are currently recruiting seasonal employees to work at our centers where we process Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts for children.  Last year over 10 million shoeboxes, and the gospel opportunities they represent, were sent all around the world. You can see an overview of this ministry at Operation Christmas Child Introduction

One of the more difficult positions that we recruit for is the position of CDL Class A switch drivers to work at each of our eight processing centers.  The processing season runs for about three to four weeks from Saturday, November 18 (1/2 day of orientation) to December 9 or 16 depending on the location.  AM shift of 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM / PM shift of 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM.  At least one switch driver is needed for each shift.  Other than Thanksgiving Day work is 6 days per week Monday through Saturday.  This is not over-the-road trucking but is switch driving to move trailers and shipping containers into and out of our dock area.

The pay is $25 per hour with time-and-a-half for overtime.  Out-of-town drivers will receive compensation for room and board.
